Timber bridge over stream
I have had a love affair with pools and streams ever since I was a child. Maybe because I fell in my cousin's pond when I was six and instantly learnt to swim!!

However the real reason was that one of my neighbours gave me an old cast iron bath to make a fishpond when I was ten.

I then created pools and streams from large plastic bags. Today it is much more sophisticated, but the joy of creating a new idea is always there.

>>> Tips

Coy carp are the big fish of the domestic pond. They need constant attention and will grow in size and value. Unfortunately they become attractive to thieves and herons.

Start with the humble goldfish. You can normally go on holiday without the worry and if you do loose any, it is not quite so devastating.
